when the ghost
is in the guesthouse
& the visitor of excess
transes mirth to bacchus~
the revelers who worship spirit
answer their own dark prayers
& not the demon rumble
nor a rebel cry of 'sic'
shall flap this chimney crow
when just as well
is just well pretended
& succulents uproot the stone-toad
& squirrels nibblegnaw upon the skull
-then is when the fists of root
rise clenched in common cause
